What She Stood For

Dr. Karen M. Trujillo was a lifelong learner and educator that believed New Mexico was filled with the right people and resources who could help uplift and lead the state in education. Trujillo was a proud Aggie, receiving her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics education from New Mexico State University. In 1997, she received her Ph.D. in secondary education, mathematics, curriculum and instruction, also at NMSU.

Trujillo was an educator for many years before making her way back to her alma mater to serve as the Director of the Alliance for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning where she established Educators Rising. Educators Rising cultivates a new generation of highly skilled educators by guiding young people on a path from middle/high school through college and into their teaching career. Paving a way for homegrown educators will infuse their passion to serving their communities through public education.
